Fish This Site Has a Gear Answer For

4 species are published so far: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, redfish and swordfish. Pick one and you get the tackle that reaches it, the rod shapes that throw that tackle, and the physical reason behind both. They were chosen to have as little in common as possible, which is what the table below is for.

Water sits on every row because it narrows the rod before anything else does — a stand-up rod and a spinning rod are not competing answers, they belong to different water. Mouth decides what a hook has to do. Fight and cover decide the line floor, the lightest rating worth fishing for that fish. The number of methods is the closest thing here to a prediction of how many rods you end up owning.

Species are published in waves, not all at once, so this list is short on purpose.
